The annual Primehouse Ice Cream Pop-Up kicks off today, and will run through the end of August the The James Chicago.
David Burke’s Primehouse at The James Chicago is known for massive steaks and classic, gut-expanding sides. But every summer, the restaurant veers from its meat-and-potato repertoire with its beloved weekly Ice Cream Pop-Up.
Kicking off today and running through the end of August, the annual pop-up runs from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. each Friday at the Jimmy Patio entrance by the smack-in-the-middle-of-everything Rush Street lobby. To keep things interesting, flavors are rotated weekly and announced the preceding Wednesday via Primehouse’s social media platforms.
This summer, Executive Pastry Chef Amanda Warren is putting a fresh spin on things by serving artisan soda ice cream floats in a handy to-go cup. Today’s special? The Reverse Root Beer Float (pictured), made of root beer sorbet, Goose Island vanilla cream soda and whipped cream. Next week, June 26, look for the Orange Creamsicle made with vanilla candied orange ice cream, Goose Island orange cream soda and whipped cream garnished with a candied orange.
Keep your eyes out for July 3, when the Red, White & Blueberry (lemon granité with blueberry compote, strawberry sorbet, berry lemonade soda, and strawberry whipped cream) salutes the holiday weekend. As always, a selection of flavors available by the scoop is on the menu all summer long.
