Get ready.
On April 7, 2016, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Hollywood officially opens its doors in California.
Much like its Orlando predecessor, the new land’s focal point will be the unmistakable skyline of Hogwarts castle, home to its signature “Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey” ride with the new addition of Quidditch-inspired 3D goggles. Another confirmed attraction: “Flight of the Hippogriff,” which will become Universal Studios Hollywood’s first outdoor roller coaster.
An entire afternoon can be spent browsing the streets below the "snowcapped" peaks of Hogsmeade, home to favorite shops from the franchise: satisfy your sweet tooth at Honeydukes, find your wand (or, rather, let your wand find you) at Ollivander’s, send Hogsmeade-postmarked mail from Owl Post, stock up on tricks and treats at Zonko’s Joke Shop, replenish your wizarding supplies at Gladrags Wizardwear and Wiseacre’s Wizarding Equipment, and discover other magical finds at Filch’s Emporium of Confiscated Goods and Dervish and Banges.
After the fun has been had, enjoy a breather (and a pint of Pumpkin Juice or Butterbeer—or both) at The Three Broomsticks or Hog’s Head Pub, and don’t forget to snap a selfie by the Hogwarts Express, which remains stationary—for now.
Details beyond that are fairly scarce, though there are a few renderings to tide Potter fans over until more information surfaces:
