New York City’s hummus situation is about to get really serious with the arrival of Philadelphia’s hummusiya phenomenon Dizengoff. Restaurateurs Mike Solomonov and Steve Cook—the team behind other top spots in Philly such as Zahav and Federal Donuts—have just confirmed that they’ll be opening an outpost of Dizengoff in New York’s Chelsea Market. It will be the team’s first restaurant outside of Philadelphia.
Eater New York first spotted the business license application on the window of one of the market’s kiosks over the weekend. Following up, Philly.com reports that the restaurateurs are still waiting on their final lease, but “hoped to open the Dizengoff within 90 days.”
Dizengoff is a casual restaurant featuring the creamy, mouthwateringly delicious hummus that made Zahav one of Philadelphia’s most important restaurants. At a price point from $9 to $11, Dizengoff offers a rotating selection of hummus options, which come with laffa bread, salad, and Israeli pickles.
There aren’t any details just yet how or whether the New York City outpost will differ from the Philadelphia original, but Philly.com does note that the new location will stay open later due to Chelsea Market’s opening hours.
