The long, slow march towards holiday season has begun.
Despite the fact that the temperature in New York City is still hovering in the seventies, the Ice Rink at Rockefeller Center will open this Saturday at 8:30 a.m.
The iconic rink—a fixture in countless winter movie scenes—will be open daily through April 2016. Skaters of all skill levels can reserve tickets for 90-minute free-skate sessions, or can arrange private, 30-minute lessons. Skate rentals are also available onsite.
It was announced last week that the Winter Village at Bryant Park, which includes a 17,000-square-foot ice skating rink, will be opening on October 30—just in time for a Halloween-themed couples skate. Prime skating season won’t officially kick off, however, until after Thanksgiving, when rinks at the South Street Seaport, Central Park, and Prospect Park will also open.
