Tickets are on sale for the 2015 New York Comedy Festival. The annual event will feature over 60 don’t-want-to-miss shows at venues around the city between November 10 and 15. The festival line-up includes over 200 comedians, such as Patton Oswalt, Billy Crystal, Lewis Black, Kathy Griffin, Sarah Silverman, Craig Robinson, Nikki Glaser, Gabriel Iglesias, Silicon Valley star Kumail Nanjiani, Bridget Everett, and Norm MacDonald, as well as first-time festival performers Nathan For You star Nathan Fielder, John Leguizamo, Iliza Shlesinger, and many, many more.
A few highlights: Margaret Cho will star in a beguilingly titled show called “There’s No I In Team But There’s A Cho In Psycho.” (Need we say more?) Daily Show host Trevor Noah will do a set at Town Hall the same night that Bill Burr and Bill Maher stage a two-man takeover of Madison Square Garden. And Gilbert Gottfried will be taping an episode of “Gilbert Gottfried’s Amazing Colossal Podcast” featuring Artie Lange.
For those who like to multi-task, some of the comedy shows are also raising money for good causes. Stand Up For Heroes, a benefit for the Bob Woodruff Foundation, will be held at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday, November 11, and will feature performances by Seth Meyers, John Oliver, Ray Romano, Bruce Springsteen, and Jon Stewart. During “Judd Apatow and Friends” at Carnegie Hall on Saturday, November 14, the director will sit down with Mike Birbiglia and other as-yet-unnamed famous friends—Seth Rogen? Jason Siegel? James Franco? Lena Dunham?—for a benefit for Everytown for Gun Safety.
In addition to shows, the festival will include panel discussions with the writers from The Tonight Show and the creative team of The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore, the finals of “New York’s Funniest Stand-Up” competition, and live-tapings of some of the funniest podcasts around.
