Nabbing hard-to-get Broadway tickets is a little easier when you’re president. President Obama took his daughters Malia and Sasha to a performance of the sold-out musical Hamilton during a family trip to New York Saturday.
The show, which tells the story of Alexander Hamilton to a hip-hop score, has received rave reviews. But even the president’s appearance wasn’t enough to get Lin-Manuel Miranda, the show’s writer and star, on stage on his previously scheduled off day. An understudy performed instead.
Still, Miranda says it was great to have Obama attend the performance. “It was a real kick to see the first three presidents of the United States onstage while sitting with the current president,” he told The New York Times. “He’s in that line.”
