And tickets just went on sale.
On May 31, the culinary arm of Bono’s (RED) organization—which has raised more than $315 million to date to help prevent HIV/AIDS—is presenting an al fresco dinner at New York’s Pier 26. Host Mario Batali will oversee 10 celebrity chefs (including David Burke, April Bloomfield, John Besh, and Michael Symon), who will work in pairs to create five different four-course menus, each of which will be served to 200 guests. Another cool part? All 1,000 guests will be seated at the same mile-long table. Tickets cost $295 and are available exclusively on GiltCity.com.
The event marks the beginning of a month-long campaign to raise money for (RED), during which restaurants around the world will add a red dish or drink to their menus, donating all the proceeds to the charity. (Last year, for example, Dominique Ansel created a strawberries-and-cream dessert, pictured above.) Check out the PSA here, with cameos from Batali, Wylie Dufresne, Padma Lakshmi, and more.
