The new Bodhi Tree Foundation, cofounded by the CEO’s of New York–based consulting firm JG Black Book of Travel and affordable-housing nonprofit Habiquad, is enabling travelers to give back worldwide. The foundation, whose 2010 beneficiaries include a tiger conservation program in northeast India, and Edeyo, a not-for-profit rebuilding Haitian schools destroyed by the earthquake, has a growing list of travel partners (the Oberoi Group and Thompson Hotels, among them) that make it easy to contribute. The new Veranda Resort & Residences, in Turks and Caicos, for example, matches guests’ donation dollars; at New York’s Hôtel Plaza Athénée, an amenity menu offers cocktails, tea, or a foundation contribution. If you choose the latter, you’re just the kind of person that the Bodhi Tree is counting on. thebodhitreefoundation.org.
