And the lineup’s incredible.
Every Labor Day weekend, Seattle streets are flooded with music, art, dance, comedy, and more. For its 45th year, the city’s annual celebration, called Bumbershoot, hosts a diverse mix of chart-topping artists, including Ellie Goulding, The Weeknd, Hozier, and Zedd.
Also on the agenda for September 5-7: performances by locally grown musical acts like Neko Case, the Melvins, Dead Moon, and hip hop artists Chimurenga Renaissance.
So it’s clear that music lovers will find a lot to love, but Bumbershoot is not just a music festival. This year’s lineup also features an incredible performances by comedian and actress Bridget Everett (Inside Amy Schumer, Trainwreck) and YouTube sensation Puddles' Pity Party.
Attendees can also check out live tapings of podcasts like Alison Rosen Is Your New Best Friend, Sherman Alexie and Jess Walter's A Tiny Sense of Accomplishment, and Talk Salad and Scrambled Eggs, the Frasier themed podcast by Matt Mira and Kevin Smith (this is Seattle after all).
There’s a breakdancing competition, a slam poetry competition, author panels, dance performances, art installations, and a Seattle-Havana-Tehran Poster Show.
For those who prefer to spend the last weekend of summer inside, there’s also a well-curated film festival to highlight the best of the Northwest’s film scene as well as a handful of shorts from the Seattle International Film Festival.
