These wide and powerful rapids on the Congo River at the outskirts of the city are where the Congo River gets nasty. Take a minibus to Pont Djoué from next to Centre Culturel Français. Most people observe the rapids from the nearby bar Site Touristique Les Rapides , but the best viewing is at the other end, down the sandy track after the bridge. The main rapids themselves are well out into the middle of the river and quite hard to see, but it's still impressive even from this distance. A taxi from the city centre costs around CFA2000.
