Kanti House
Make a beeline for this atmospheric shop that has been restored. It specialises in clothing.
Anse Sévère
On the north coast, this beach is not the most photogenic, but is great for snorkelling.
Anglican Church
Taking pride of place in the centre of town is the Anglican church, with its renovated facade and elegant tower.
Anse Takamaka
The gently curving Anse Takamaka is a gorgeous strand for walking unfettered on white sand and gaping at sunsets. Facilities include Batistas bar-restaurant.
Anse Patates
At the northern tip of the island, this beach is alluring but lacks the wow factor. Its a great place for a picnic, though, and has some good snorkelling.
Natural History Museum
The Natural History Museum is worth a quick visit to learn about the islands geology, fauna and flora. The upstairs section is devoted to marine life.
Sheikh Mohamed bin Khalifa Mosque
Tucked away from the main drag is this modern mosque, which is a popular spot for the prayers of Victorias small Muslim community, especially on Friday morning.
Arul Mihu Navasakthi Vinyagar Temple
With its brightly painted decor, Victorias small but eye-catching Hindu temple stands out among a row of nondescript buildings. Its used by the citys Indian community.
Old Courthouse
The old courthouse beside the clock tower will appeal to fans of Creole architecture, as will the colonial buildings that are scattered along Francis Rachel and Albert Sts.
Anse Soleil
The idyllic little beach of Anse Soleil is a pocket-sized paradise where you can pause for lunch; theres a beach restaurant . Its accessible via a secondary road (its signposted).
Clock Tower
The focal point of the city centre is this downsized replica of the clock tower on Londons Vauxhall Bridge. The replica was brought to Victoria in 1903 when the Seychelles became a crown colony.
Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception
This imposing cathedral is noteworthy for its elegant portal and colonnaded facade. The building to the left of the cathedral is the Domus – its the priests residence and a national monument.
Anse Marron
At the southern tip of the island, little-known Anse Marron is a hidden morsel of tranquillity. The fact that this fantastically wild beach can only be reached on foot adds to its wonderful sense of remoteness.
Anse Réunion
True, Anse Réunion, south of La Passe, hardly compares to Grand Anse or Anse Source dArgent – there is usually algae drifting along the shore – but its an easy walk from town and a pretty place to watch the sun set.
Grande Anse
Grande Anse is an immense swath of sand that glimmers with a fierce but utterly enchanting beauty. No other beach provides the same opportunities for long, solitary walks. Its not suitable for swimming, though, due to strong currents.
Anse Louis
To the north of Anse à la Mouche the coast is a bit less glam but appealing nonetheless. If you can find access to Anse Louis, where the super-swish Maia resort lies, youll be rewarded with a superlative beach you never knew existed.
