An old primary school is the base for this impressive social enterprise project, which aims to transform the surrounding area into a precinct for galleries, shops, restaurants, bars and cafes with broad, cross-cultural appeal. There's a cafe, gift shop and Table Mountain Yellow Frame here. Opposite, on Bittenhout St, a wall is the canvas for an annual street art competition.
On nearby on Rubusana Ave, several homes are part of the Langa Township Art Gallery (Langa TAG) project, with the homeowners displaying and selling the works of local artists.
The organisers of the project can also organise homestays in Langa. If enough funds are raised, the official World Design Capital pavilion, a legacy of the 2014 event, will be erected here, too.
