Some of the finest scenery in the Cape is to be found in the desolate Cederberg. The 83,000-hectare wilderness area is administered by Cape Nature and boasts bizarre-shaped, weathered-sandstone formations, San rock art, craggy and rugged mountains and clear streams. The peaks and valleys extend roughly north-south for 100km, between Citrusdal and Vanrhynsdorp. The highest peaks are Sneeuberg (2027m) and Tafelberg (1969m). San rock art can be found on the rocks and in some of the area’s caves.
