Around 25km northeast of Estcourt is the 5000-hectare undulating thornveld of the Weenen Game Reserve, which has black and white rhinos, giraffes and several antelope species, including the rare roan. This reserves breeds rhinos to supplement other wildlife reserves. There is a hide and waterhole, picnic sites and guided trails. The two self-guided trails are iMpofu (2km), and Beacon View (3km). The reserve also has campsites and a five-bed cottage – minimum charges apply.
