North of Mbotyi and 30km south of Port Edward, lies the Mkhambhati Nature Reserve . The park encompasses 7720 hectares of grassland, dotted with forest and flanked by the Msikaba and Mtentu River Gorges, and supports a large array of wildlife. In future years, environmentalists hope that it will be the centrepiece of the ‘Wild Coast National Park’; currently it seems it’s a toss-up between a national park, a toll road and titanium mines.
