The call of the wild is perhaps nowhere louder than in the 28,000-hectare Mapungubwe National Park. This spectacular park, which opened in 2004 and is still overlooked compared to Kruger, occupies some hot African terrain in the Limpopo River Valley, where the mercury hits 45°C during the summer.
The park is at the confluence of the Shashe and Limpopo Rivers, a 60km drive from Musina on Rte 572 to Pont Drift.
