These natural caves are located 20km north of Zanzibar Town, within an easy walk of Mangapwani beach. The first large, dank cave incorporates a freshwater pool while the slave cave, further north, is said to have been used as an illegal holding pen for slaves after the trade was abolished in the late 19th century.
