Epworth Balancing Rocks
They can be found in many places in Zimbabwe, but these are probably the most famous (and convenient) balancing rocks, located 13km southeast of Harare, off Chiremba Rd.

Church of St Francis of Assisi
The church was constructed between 1942 and 1946 by Italian POWs to commemorate 71 of their compatriots who died in Zimbabwe during WWII. Its 4km east towards Mutare from the caravan park.

Worlds View
World View is perched atop the Troutbeck Massif. This National Trust site affords broad views of northern Zimbabwe. It’s 11km up a winding, steep road from Troutbeck – follow the signposts.

Harare Gardens
This is the citys largest park. Look for the island-like stand of rainforest with its miniature Victoria Falls (often minus the water) and Zambezi Gorge. Dont linger here after dusk.

Mutare Museum
Definitely worth popping your head in to to see what exhibit is showing at the time. The museum also has a permanent collection of vintage cars, artefacts, and displays on anthropology and zoology.

National Archives of Zimbabwe
Founded in 1935, this building off Borrowdale Rd is the repository for the history of Rhodesia and modern Zimbabwe: artefacts, photos, accounts of early explorers and settlers, and a display about the Second Chimurenga.

Natural History Museum
Explore the countrys natural, anthropological and geological history, set over 3 floors at Zimbabwes largest and best museum. The impressive collection of gemstones shows the countrys astounding wealth of natural resources. Also has a good taxidermy display.

National Botanic Gardens
The 58-hectare National Botanic Gardens contain examples of the diverse flowers and greenery that thrive in Harares pleasant climate. Most Zimbabwean species are also represented, as well as specimens from Southern Africa. Its a great place to spend the day.

Wild is Life
A wildlife sanctuary with a difference – sip on afternoon tea and champagne while getting a hands-on experience with the injured, rescued or orphaned animals here. Located near the airport. You need to book well in advance and children under 12 are not permitted.

Hwange National Park
Hwange is home to some 400 species of birds and 107 types of animals, including one of the largest numbers (30,000) of elephants in the world. The best time for wildlife viewing is July to October when animals congregate around the 60 water holes or pans.

Mukuvisi Woodlands Environmental Centre
