Ringed by mountains, and joined by a stream so that on the map they resemble the infinity symbol, these are the largest lakes in Kham. Ngan-tso is the more westerly and so is the one seen first by travellers from Lhasa. Ask your guide to show you how to get to the old village near Rawok (on the lake's northeastern shore) to visit the large chörten and small temple nearby overlooking Ngan-tso. You need to drive another 6km southeast to visit Rawok-tso.
