Named after the 50-odd elephants who live here. The elephants are very retiring and rare are the travellers who have actually seen any of them. You will see monkeys, though, and it’s worth a visit if you want to see something of the local forest. A 2km-long cable car runs over the tree tops from the main entrance into the heart of the park, as does an elevated walkway.
There is no accommodation in the park; it’s best to stay in Jǐnghóng. There are 10 buses daily to Sānchàhé (¥15, one hour, 8am to 5pm).
