You can hike the mountain behind Xìngpíng, past pomelo and orange groves, to sleepy Fish Village. Miraculously untouched during the Sino-Japanese War and the Cultural Revolution, the 400-year-old village has friendly residents and vernacular houses similar to those at Xìngpíng. It was visited by Bill Clinton in the 1990s, something it still takes pride in today.
A bamboo raft back to Xìngpíng or Yángshuò costs ¥200 to ¥300.
