This temple's simply stunning Qing murals, depicting popular myths (with the usual mix of Buddhist, Taoist and Confucian figures), were whitewashed – some say for protection – during the Cultural Revolution. A professor from Qīnghuá University helped to uncover them; you can still see streaks of white in places.
