From children kicking around half-deflated soccer balls to boatmen reading the weather conditions opposite the grand Palácio do Governo (Government House), Dili's waterfront offers a great glimpse into local life. It stretches for kilometres in a quasi-boomerang shape, with a promenade from Lita Supermarket in the east, to Farol lighthouse beaming at the western end, with Dili Port in between. Further west is an esplanade dotted with gigantic embassies and expat bars offering excellent sunset views.
