The castle-like palace of the Dadiani family (old lords of Samegrelo), at the north end of Zviad Gamsakhurdia, is now a museum. As well as interesting 19th-century paintings of the Caucasus region and a fine collection of icons and crosses from the 10th to 20th centuries (in the Treasure section), it contains one of Napoleon Bonaparte’s three bronze death masks, acquired via a marriage between a Dadiani and a Bonaparte relative.
The wooded botanical gardens beside the park are worth a stroll too.
