Hong Kong Science Museum
More than 500 exhibits, most of them hands-on, fill the halls and rooms of the Hong Kong Science Museum, so when you’ve had your fill of staring at paintings and ancient artifacts in glass cases, you’ll find this museum entertaining for both kids and adults. The museum’s 16 galleries are divided into themes, such as Light, Life Sciences, Sound, World of Mirrors, Motion, Science News and Home Technology. A children’s gallery on the top floor is geared toward kids ages 3 to 7.
Much of the museum isn’t particularly unique to Hong Kong, so make sure you hit the exhibits that are, such as the flight simulator that teaches you to navigate over the city at night. The museum also houses a 72-foot (22-meter) tall twin tower “Energy Machine,” the largest machine of its kind in the world. When set in motion, the machine gives an impressive visual and audio demonstration of energy conversion in action.
Even if the Hong Kong Science Museum isn’t on your itinerary, it’s a great option for families with kids or for that rainy afternoon.
