Close to Kashmere Gate, this forgotten cemetery is the last resting place for hundreds of Delhi’s colonial-era residents, many of whom perished in childhood. One famous (ex)-resident is Brigadier General John Nicholson, who died from injuries sustained while storming Delhi during the 1857 First War of Independence. At the time he was hailed as the ‘Hero of Delhi,’ but author William Dalrymple has described him as an ‘imperial psychopath’.
Take the metro to nearby Pulbangash station to see the British-erected Mutiny Memorial and an Ashoka Pillar , transported here by Feroz Shah.
