This prominent hilltop north of centre was briefly fortified in the 6th century and once again by Emperor Akbar in 1590, but most of what you see today dates from the 1808 constructions of Pathan governor Atta Mohammad Khan. While still used by a handful of military personnel, it reopened to tourists in July 2014, but you'll first need a stamped permissory note from the TRC (passport copy required for the Fawlty Towers-like application). Entrance is from the northeast side.
