Hidden away in the high pastures between Mandi and Bajaura is scenic Prashar Lake (2730m), home to the striking, pagoda-style Prashara Temple, built in the 14th century in honour of the sage Prashar Rishi. A bus to Prashar (₹70, three hours) leaves Mandi bus station at 7.30am; otherwise the lake is an 8km uphill hike from the back road between Mandi and Bajaura road. A return taxi from Mandi costs around ₹2000.
