The solid, pink-hued seafront Danesborg Fort , occupied by the British in 1801, houses a small but fascinating museum on the region’s Danish history. The quiet roadway leading to the fort is entered by an impressive 1792 gateway, and an exuberant Sunday service is held in the nearby 1718 church. Danish NGOs are busy restoring some of the colonial row houses in the fort’s vicinity.
