The extensively rebuilt Samstemling Gompa has a lot of colourful murals but lacks the overall visual appeal of the monastery in Diskit. It's some 1.5km above Tegar's Zamskhang Palace ruins and worth the short drive if only to admire the lovely panoramas from the parking area. If you're walking, however, it can be a hot, exhausting climb.
