Human sacrifices were carried out here right up to the 18th century. Until 2013 the tradition lived on in tamer form during October’s Dussehra celebration, when assorted animals were sacrificed to Bhimakali, but this too has now stopped following a court judgement banning sacrifices at Himachal religious festivals.
