Yogmaya Temple

Yogmaya Temple (also known as Jogmaya) is a Hindu temple situated in Mehrauli, New Delhi. It’s thought that the original temple was built by the Pandavas, with the current building having been reconstructed at the beginning of the 19th century, during the Mughal rule.
Built on the site of a historic Devi shrine, this place of worship is dedicated to the Hindu Goddess Yogmaya – the sister of Lord Krishna. Despite its early origins, the temple as it stands today is in fact rather contemporary looking. It features an impressive dome, while inside an elaborate entrance hall leads to the altar where the idol of Yogmaya resides.
The temple, which is completely surrounded by trees, welcomes people of all religions, faiths and castes. It’s also the venue of a huge congregation of devotees during the Navratri celebrations and plays a central part in the important inter-faith festival of Delhi – the Phool Walon Ki Sair, which sees devotees offering flowers and chaddars at the temple.

Yogmaya Temple is located near the Qutub Complex in Mehrauli, Delhi. It’s open daily for devotees and other visitors from 6am until 8pm.
