Calangute Beach
Calangute Beach, known as the Queen of Beaches, is the largest stretch of sand in the region. During the festive winter holiday season, the entrance to the beach comes alive with dozens of shacks serving cheap seafood and cocktails.
Sun-lovers flock to the largely un-shaded beach to laze on the sun beds lining the sand, while jet skis wind back and forth across the breaking waves. With a strong undertow, Calangute Beach discourages swimmers but caters to all types of water sports enthusiasts. Visitors will find parasailing, wake boarding, windsurfing, scuba diving, sailing and jet skiing all along the beach.
Unlike nearby Anjuna and Baga Beaches, the nightlife at Calangute is relatively tame and tends to quiet down well before midnight, making the hotels and resorts along the beach a good option for travelers looking to avoid the notorious party scene.
