Bedugul

Bedugul, located north of Denpasar in the central highlands of Bali, serves as the adventure sports center of the island, with canyoning, trekking, kayaking and water sports all on offer. Where Ubud, another highlands resort, has skyrocketed into popularity in recent years, Bedugul remains relatively untouched by tourism.

When traveling through the hilly countryside of the region, you’ll get to see a slice of everyday Balinese life, as farmers labor in the picturesque rice terraces that dominate the undulating landscape. Bedugul is also in the middle of Bali’s Lake District, with Lake Beratan and the neighboring botanical gardens at the center of it all. Many of the flowers used in hotels all over the island originate in the gardens of Bedugul.

While you may not associate Bali with golf, Bendugul is where you’ll find one of the world’s most beautiful courses -- and arguably the best in Asia -- at the Bali Handara Country Club.
