Menjangan Island
Located 5 miles (8 kilometers) northwest of Bali within West Bali National Park, the small island of Menjangan offers some of the best scuba diving in the Bali area thanks to its pristine coral reefs, deep drop offs and various caves. Dive operators in Bali make day trips to the island to spot groupers, moray eels, batfish, snapper, barrel sponges and enormous sea fans among others.
Some of the island’s most notable dive sites include Anchor wreck (the site of a sunken Dutch slave ship), Eel Gardens (home to a large colony of garden eels) and Secret Bay, a unique underwater habitat popular among underwater photographers for its colorful collection of sea horses, nudibranches, lionfish and ribbon eels.
The island itself is also home to many deer (“Menjangan” is the Javanese word for “deer”).
Practical Info
