Campuhan Ridge Walk
The town of Ubud in the center of Bali boasts some of the island’s most stunning and verdant scenery. Winding through it is the free and relatively easy Campuhan Ridge Walk. This popular trek begins at Pura Gunung Lebah, an eighth century temple in Ubud and winds for about 5.5 miles (9 kilometers) through the hills of the Campuhan Valley. The hillside views all along the trail are hard to beat, and on a clear day, it’s possible to see the peak of Mount Agung in the distance. The trail passes through a few small villages along the way, including Bangkiang Sidem, where a small cafe and guesthouse provide a place to rest and refuel before retracing the path back to Ubud or continuing the loop.
Practical Info
Plan to hike the Campuhan Ridge Walk either in the early morning or late afternoon when temperatures are cooler and the position of the sun will make for better photographs of the surrounding landscape.
