Don Antonio Blanco Museum

A Spaniard born in the Philippines, Antonio Blanco arrived in Bali in 1952 and was gifted a bit of land just outside Ubud to set up a studio. He would go on to marry, have children and become one of Bali’s most influential foreign artists before his death in 1999. Today, his former home is known as the Don Antonio Blanco Museum, a tribute to his flamboyant art and aesthetic. 
The museum, located on a mountain overlooking the Campuhan River, maintains much of the artist’s spirit, and his works of baroque-style erotic art are quite unlike anything else out there. His studio was preserved in the state he left it, which means there's an incomplete painting still waiting on its easel inside. The building's quirky architecture (a blend of traditional Balinese and Spanish features) and the beautifully manicured grounds alone make the visit worthwhile.

Because much of Blanco’s subject matter is sexual in nature, the museum isn't appropriate for children.
