Lake Batur

Travelers can spend their morning soaking up sun and scenic views along the shores of this chilly lake that was formed by an ancient eruption. Hop a boat across the river to Temple of the Dead, or spend the afternoon canoeing in the placid waters of the lake. The lake is accessible by taking Jalan Nusantara to Jalan Raya Penelokan in a hired car or motorbike. The latter tends to make negotiating the rough roads easier. Travelers can also ride on tourist shuttles between southern Bali and Lovina, which makes a stop in Kintamani.
