Pelabuhan Sunda Kelapa

Pelabuhan Sunda Kelapa was the early 16th-century trading post from which the Dutch colonization of Indonesia began and burgeoned. This port is located in North Jakarta and offers a glimpse into the past, with the traditional two-masted wooden sailing boats still serving the harbor.
Porters bustle away, constantly loading and unloading various cargo in and out of the boats, walking along narrow strips of plywood to do so. Other attractions in the area include the Harbormaster Tower (Menara Syahbandar), the Maritime Museum (Museum Bahari), the Wayang Museum, the Jakarta History Museum, and the Fine Art and Ceramic Museum.
There are also various restaurants in the area, and it’s even possible to buy fresh fish from the popular fish market here and ask the nearby restaurants to cook it to your taste.

Practical Info

You can reach Pelabuhan Sunda Kelapa by taxi or via the TransJakarta Busway (Corridor I, Blok M), alighting at its final destination of Kota.
