Just northeast of Kurokabe Square, this Jōdō-sect temple rivals Kyoto's finest with its collection of dozens of historic fusuma (sliding door) and byōbu (folding screen) paintings of landscapes and wildlife on gold leaf, including important cultural properties by members of the Kanō school. There's also a stunning inner garden. Even if that's not of interest, peek at the stately main hall and grounds.
