Though most displays are in Japanese, there's enough multimedia to make this Amami cultural and natural-history museum interesting even if finer details are lost. Short documentary films illustrating island traditions, musical exhibits and dioramas of local homes all bring Amami traditions to life. This cultural centre, as well as an art museum showcasing the work of Tanaka Isson, are part of Amami Park, five minutes by bus from the airport.
