This fantastic, yet little-known museum has a collection of historic buildings rescued from Tokyo's modernising zeal. Among them are an Edo-era farm house, a modernist villa and a whole strip of early-20th-century shops, all of which you can enter. From the north exit of Musashi-Koganei Station, take a No 2 or No 3 bus for Koganei-koen Nishi-guchi; from the bus stop it's a short walk through Koganei park to the museum.
