No Japanese tourist can leave Sapporo without snapping a photo of the city's signature landmark, the clock tower. Built in 1878, the clock has not missed tolling the hour for more than 130 years. That's impressive, but these days Sapporo's encroaching urban metropolis somewhat dwarfs the small building. The clock tower is just two minutes on foot from Ōdōri station, or a 10-minute walk from JR Sapporo Station.
