Next to K's House hostel, this inn, established in 1928, is now a national monument for its elegant woodwork. Each of its three storeys is designed by a different architect. Architecture buffs will love it and there's a convivial tearoom with river views on the ground floor. Pay ¥500 if you wish to take a dip in its onsen baths (big and small, alternating daily between male and female).
