Osaka Zoo
Osaka's Tennoji Zoo is home to over 1,500 creatures and 300 different species, both big and small. Located in Tennoji Park, the zoo mimics natural habitats as closely as possible and is known for it's ecological protection and humane treatment of animals.
The zoo’s collection of animals spans the world, from elephants and pandas to Australian koalas, big cats and primates. It is also home to fairly new enclosures including a reptile house, nocturnal house and hippopotamus house.
Opened in 1915, Tennoji Zoo is the third zoo to be opened in Japan, and represents a place for recreation and culture for locals. While you’re here, take a stroll through the adjacent botanical gardens.
