The Khmer temple ruin of Uo Moung is thought to have been built late in the 9th century during the reign of the Khmer King Yasovarman I. It’s about 45km south of Pakse off Rte 13 in a wonderfully shaded forest beside a small tributary of the Mekong. The exact function of the temple is unknown, though its orientation towards the holy mountain Phu Pasak suggests its location was somehow related to Wat Phu.
