This state park within Belum-Temenggor Rainforest was gazetted in 2007 to protect its rich menagerie of tigers, tapirs, panthers and the Sumatran rhino – though the latter is now feared extinct in Malaysia. A permit and guide are needed to explore; hotels can help with both. Book accommodation and excursions a fortnight in advance to allow time to secure the permit (you'll need to send a scan of your passport).
