Well…maybe not so much, but that’s what the locals would like you to think after seeing their pride and joy: the jam besar . Located near the bus station, the 25.5m-high tower was built in 1885 as a potable-water storage tank. A pesky underground river gives the tower a lean (although it’s not quite Pisa), and its designer, Mr Leong Choong Cheong, gave it its eight-storey, pagoda-esque appearance (there are actually only three floors).
