This historic ashram, built in 1904, and part of the global Ramakrishna movement, is a well-loved subject for photographers. It also offers courses in yoga, as well as various social programs for the underprivileged. In 2014 the board of trustees sold the land with promises the old building would be preserved, though artist sketches show at best the ashram will be literally nestled under a glass-and-steel commercial highrise.
