The original wooden mosque that gives the area its name, Masjid India was built in 1883 but replaced by a bulky red-granite tiled modern structure in 1963. It's not much to look at, and you can't go inside, but it's fronted by a busy market and surrounded by stalls selling religious items and traditional Malay costumes.
The area's famous Saturday pasar malam (night market) runs along Lg TAR behind the mosque.
